Participation

I've started writing on my typewriter. I think it's more spontaneous and fresh, but not as polished as my other work. Thoughts?

  1. definitely more apparent spontaneity! i think it's great--an awesome starting point to get your stream of thought on paper without thinking of the particulars and doing any immediate editing in your head. i do think it lacks that feeling of "word perfection" though (which you have pretty much achieved, for me, in like every other post in your blog here) that comes with the extremely deliberate construction while editing. so you could always do some polishing on whatever comes out from this and maybe it will improve your overall process, who knows :)

  2. Thanks Matt! I totally agree with you - I've found I really enjoy writing like this, putting it aside for a few days, and then retyping it on my computer and playing around with it. From what I've done so far, I'm liking how it changes my process because it removes that super controlling aspect that usually happens when I write by hand or on a computer - editing as I construct the poem. Oh, and I loved the poetry you sent me a while back, my apologies for letting my reply fall by the wayside. I really dig your writing style. Definitely send me some stuff if you are/ever decide you're getting back into writing :)

  3. No problem! It's just old poetry, lol. I will certainly do that.
